Lincoln was born with a rare diaphragm defect known as right-sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) on May 26th, 2011. We were told that Lincoln had little more than 50% chance of survival. Linc fought hard for his life in the beginning, coming very close to losing his life. After 83 days in the NICU, Lincoln came home to us. He remains strong and stubborn, and is now a happy, healthy one year old. This blog documents his life.

Project Room Air - Success!
Today marks the 8th day that Lincoln has been off of oxygen completely! He has been doing great on room air 24 hour a day. I almost think that he is breathing easier now than he ever has! It's been almost 11 months, and, finally, Lincoln is able to oxygenate his body completely unassisted! His lungs have grown to be large enough and strong enough. His saturations have been around 95 pretty consistently. He is also SUPER active. Crawling from room to room and pulling up on everything! What a wonderful achievement for my little guy. Now the only remaining evidence of Lincoln's CDH fight are small scars left on his tummy and neck (and a bit of a wheeze). I am beyond proud of him. He has overcome so much in his short life. He is my Super Man.
