Lincoln was born with a rare diaphragm defect known as right-sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) on May 26th, 2011. We were told that Lincoln had little more than 50% chance of survival. Linc fought hard for his life in the beginning, coming very close to losing his life. After 83 days in the NICU, Lincoln came home to us. He remains strong and stubborn, and is now a happy, healthy one year old. This blog documents his life.

Sightseeing with a Boo-Boo
Caution! This is what happens when you take your baby off of oxygen...he gets his first shiner by falling on a toy as he chases it down the hall! Poor baby!
All joking aside, Lincoln has been doing GREAT off of oxygen 12 hours per day for a week now. He has been active and crawling more and more on the hard wood. He still kind of scoots, with this right leg up, using his foot to propel himself. But hey, he's moving! Lincoln has usually done things the hard way, but it's his way! He is also pulling up on everything and starting to cruise, too!
His feedings are about the same. Linc prefers to drink while sleepy, but will now take about 3 oz while awake since he is up to 50% Pediasure (yummy!). He is also enjoying more table foods, like beans and pasta. He still loves to eat finger foods and has been drinking more from his cup.
Lincoln and I have been enjoying several outings now that it is April (the end of our quarantine!)and Lincoln's days of Synagis shots are over (at least for one season anyway). Being line free during the day has been so wonderful! We have made trips to Target, the grocery store, and the park almost daily. We also visited Grandma Kathi and cousin Layla the other day (Aubs was asleep)! It is so easy to just put Linc in the car and go. Like it ought to be! It's definitely been a new experience for both of us though. Lincoln...experiencing the WORLD! He is so amazed by everything! It's been great and I am looking forward to summer time with my little guy!
